Tunisian Honeymoon

Well, as most of you know by now, we went to tunisia on our honeymoon. Staying in the city of Sousse, a lovely city on the side of the med. Blue sky, blue sea, scorching sun and a gorgeous wife… :) but most of you that know us, know that we cant sit and sunbath, so we went on a couple of adventures as you will see in the photos below. We went to the medina in sousse which was scary, full of people trying to sell you stuff, really small winding streets, fantastic experience though. Quad biking for 2 hours out in the olive groves and farmland of tunisia. Tennis… Eating pizza at our rubbish all inclusive 4* hotel (Marhaba Royal Salem not recommended) it failed to be a nice hotel in a multitude of ways. Also thomas cook reps are good at promising things but rubbish at delivering. rant over. We went on a 2 day excursion to the sahara desert, we figured we cant be this close and not visit the edge of it! This involved 630 start seeing things along the way like, the Roman amphi theatre in El Djem, Matmata and the cave dwellings where loads of people still live. Star wars was filmed in some like the ones we visited! Then onto the camels into the sahara! 47 degrees…HOT! then an actual 4* hotel (lovely Sahara Douz). Then up at 4.30 to see the sun rise, then onto see the dried up salt lakes. Then we went in some land cruisers into the atlas mountains to see some oasis’. Then to Tourez where we got a horse and cart ride into an oasis to see how they pick dates etc from the palm trees. Then onto Kairouan which is the 3rd holiest city in islam, with the first african mosque…(i just liked the architecture!) then back home…all in 2 days! Then we played more tennis. The went to friguia animal park to see some caged animals just like in chester zoo…but then onto a lovely cous cous meal with in meal entertainment. Zulu, kenyan and tunisian dancing. Fantastic! It was an eye opener seeing how some people live. All in all, fantastic holiday with a fantastic woman :)

Enjoyed your wedding and yes, Ems is beautiful. We thought the photos were lovely. The honeymoon photos brought back memories for us of our trip around Tunisia a few years ago. Glad your hotel didn’t give you food poisoning, ours did!!
